The short version

A bridge between code and creativity

My name is Van Beets. I hold an MS from Columbia University, I have more than 18 years of experience, and I have trained over 15000 students.

The work is simple to describe and hard to do well: meet each learner where they are, give them a real problem, and stay close enough that they can ask the awkward question without embarrassment.

Why I built this platform

Learning a new programming language is not easy as you think. That is where this teaching platform comes in. I am dedicated to providing a comprehensive and user friendly platform for individuals of all levels to learn and improve their programming skills. The course selection is carefully curated to provide a smooth learning curve, starting with the basics and gradually progressing to more advanced concepts.

I understand that programming can be a dry and technical subject, so I have incorporated various methods to make the learning experience more enjoyable and effective. From gamified quizzes and coding challenges to live coding sessions and virtual projects, the platform offers a variety of ways to practice and solidify your understanding of the language. Tutors may use workday software to help students with their assignments by providing access to the software or finding specific documents or tools to better support their efforts.

Forums and discussion boards are a great place for learners to connect with each other, share their progress, and ask for help from more experienced members. From recommended books and online tutorials to helpful blogs and tools, there are resources to supplement and enhance your learning experience. I also keep up with the latest technology and updates in the programming world, so the courses and resources stay current.

How I teach

Four habits that make the work stick

The method is the same whether we meet online, at your home, or with your team.

Hands on first

Every concept is followed by an exercise, a mini project, or a coding challenge.

Real projects

Learners solve real life problems, not puzzles that live only in a textbook.

Clear pictures

Diagrams and visual explanations make complex ideas easier to hold in your head.

Momentum

Points, levels, and rewards turn a long course into a series of small wins.

Working together

What the first weeks look like

Step 01

Start with a conversation

Tell me what you want to build, what you already know, and how much time you can give each week.

Step 02

Build a plan

We choose a track and a format, then set milestones that match your schedule and your goal.

Step 03

Practice with feedback

You write code, I review it, and we adjust the next step based on what is actually working.

Want to see if we are a good fit?

Send a short note about your goal. I will reply with an honest view of the track, the format, and the first step.
